About us
Long Hop Productions was established in 2025 by distinguished sports presenter and commentator Matt Spiro. A British broadcaster residing in France for over two decades, Matt served as the head of global television coverage for Ligue 1 at beIN Sports from 2012 to 2024. In this role, he led both production and editorial teams, working in close partnership with the French League to elevate the international profile of French football.
Regular viewers of the weekly magazine programme Ligue 1 Show will recognize Matt’s distinctive on-screen presence, characterised by his engaging style and unwavering professionalism. He played a pivotal role in beIN Sports’ comprehensive coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, anchoring World Cup Daily alongside prominent former players such as Didier Domi, Kaylyn Kyle and Ronald De Boer (pictured). Renowned as the global face and voice of French football, Matt is also the author of the critically acclaimed Sacré Bleu – Zidane to Mbappé, a football journey, which was honored with the 2021 Daily Telegraph Football Book of the Year award.
Matt’s extensive experience is further enriched by collaborations with leading organisations including Eurosport, BBC, UEFA, and IMG, underscoring his strong industry network.
